If you left $500 million at the Western Wall, please claim it
12/20/2012Check this: Someone left half a billion bucks — 507 signed checks, not made out to anyone, worth about $1 million each — at Jerusalem's Western Wall, where people usually leave prayers. The visitor who found them turned them over to police, who are investigating to see whether the checks — mostly from Nigeria but also from the U.S., Europe and Asia — were forged or are the real deal. Most likely, the checks are worthless. The holy site's rabbi-in-charge says similar checks have been left there before, and those all bounced. He theorizes the check writers "wanted to give all they had to the creator of the universe." We theorize they fell for the old Nigerian prince scam. [Source]
