Cheerleaders accused of cruelly hazing new members
5/17/2012Many of us have been subjected to some form of hazing. Most of the time it's fairly mild stuff, but sometimes it can cross the line into the criminal. But what to make of the in-between? Take the case of the cheerleading team at Ogden (Utah) High School. On May 4, according to police, nine senior cheerleaders allegedly hazed 12 incoming cheerleaders -- blindfolding them, smearing them with ketchup, mustard and peanut butter, and squirting them with what might have been urine. One of the girls allegedly being hazed has a peanut allergy and had to be treated for an allergic reaction. Police say they are determining whether to charge the ringleaders with hazing, which is a misdemeanor in Utah.
