If you medal in the Olympics, they’ll name a cheetah after you

A lot of perks come with winning an Olympic medal, but we’re guessing the U.S. sprinting champions weren’t expecting the wild privilege of having big cats named after them. The National Zoo in Washington, D.C., thought it would be fitting to christen their two new cheetah cubs after the top-finishing Americans in the 100-meter dash. The 3-month-old cubs have been named Carmelita and Justin, after medalists Carmelita Jeter and Justin Gatlin, though some haters insist on saying Gatlin’s more of a cheater than a cheetah thanks to his former drug issues. The naming honors do make sense, since these runners may now be the fastest animals on land. [Source]
