In Chicago, a city employee can make $91,000 in overtime — can you?

1/23/2013

If you live in Chicago and would like to earn more money, first, get a job with the police department. Second, do not ask for a raise. Simply work overtime. New figures from the city showed that 26 city employees made more than $50,000 in overtime in 2012. Topping the list was a police communications operator who netted $91,116 in overtime (in 10 months!) on top of a salary $77,784, for a total of about $169,000 — more than her boss made. Eight of the city’s top 10 overtime earners were police detectives, dispatchers or communication operators, each of whom raked in more than $61,000 in overtime. [Source]
