Chicken poop helps fry up delicious Chinese food

Chefs in China may be cooking with chicken manure without even knowing it, but don't worry, it's not as gross as it sounds. Geniuses have figured out how to extract methane gas from the 240 tons of poop produced each day by the three million chickens living at the Deqingyuan poultry farm near Beijing. While the half a billion tasty eggs the birds pop out annually go to supermarkets, the icky waste heads to a processing plant where its methane gas is extracted and used to generate electricity for the national grid — providing locals with the energy to fry those eggs.
