China is aiming to grow an army of baby geniuses

3/18/2013

You know how parents are supposed to love their children for who they are, no matter their faults? China knows, and they really want to put a stop to it. BGI (Beijing Genomics Institute) Shenzehn has collected the DNA of 2,000 of the world's smartest people in order to sequence the genome and determine how to breed smarter children. Once the gene is sequenced, the scientists hope that zygote screening will allow the average IQ of each generation to potentially improve by up to 15 IQ points. It seems that since they're only allowed to have one child, Chinese parents are doing their best to make sure that their only kid isn't a lemon. [Source]
