'Choose Life,' but not on a North Carolina license plate
12/11/2012A North Carolina judge has ruled that the state's "Choose Life" license plates are unconstitutional, so long as there's no pro-choice option available to the state's drivers. Advocates of license-plate equality have floated amendments authorizing the production of pro-choice license plates — reading either "Trust Women. Respect Choice" or just "Respect Choice" — six times, and each has failed to make it through the state's legislature. The American Civil Liberties Union, which filed the lawsuit, termed the decision "a great victory for the free speech rights of all North Carolinians." [Source]
