Devious iPhone helps itself to $30,000 worth of data charges

When Chris Bovis opened his cellphone bill and saw that he owed $30,000, Step One was probably "Don't have an aneurism." Step Two was to find out what caused his Orange (U.K.) account to rack up those kinds of charges. But while he investigated the cause, Orange tried to collect the payment from his bank account, a transaction that his bank thankfully stopped. He says that his iPhone was faulty, downloading data even when it was turned off. Apple agreed, issuing him another phone. Orange eventually cut his balance to a still-crazy $480, then dropped the charges entirely. [Source]
