Don't make astronauts cry, it hurts to tear up in space
1/15/2013Hope they're not showing any tearjerkers during movie night on the International Space Station, because according to our favorite tweeting astronaut, Chris Hadfield, it actually hurts to cry in space. "Your eyes make tears but they stick as a liquid ball," he explained in an enlightening tweet. "In fact, they sting a bit. So — space tears don't shed." With no gravity at work, the tears don't roll down and away, but just stay put on the eyeball. So if you're assembling a care package for Chris, do him a favor and leave out that "Terms of Endearment" DVD.
