French 'bubble desk' helps miserable office workers avoid each other

2/3/2013

It’s been firmly established that the French are, well, haters. So it makes perfect sense that they’d be the ones to invent the bizarrely ingenious "bubble desk" — a clear plastic dome that seals office workers off in their own little mini-worlds, making it easier for them to tolerate actually being among other sad-sack humans. The transparent pods, designed by Christian Pottgiesser, are currently in use by at least two French companies (Pons and Huot). Although the bubble desk might be able to help shield you from Mary's nose-blowing and Tim's constant flu-season sneezing, the jury's still out on how well it protects you from painfully long meetings and awkward office birthday parties.
