Beat it, Danica: Another woman with NASCAR dreams will be at Daytona
2/20/2013Danica Patrick might be the first woman to earn the pole position at the Daytona 500, but there will be another "first woman" in the pit on Sunday. Christmas Abbott, a military contractor turned CrossFit competitor turned pit crew trainee, will be shadowing Clint Boyer’s crew in anticipation of future NASCAR assignments. She recently joined the pit crew of Camping World Truck Series driver Jennifer Jo Cobb, where the 5-foot-3-inch, 115-pound dynamo will change tires that weigh half as much as she does. That won’t be a problem, not for a woman who can squat 255 pounds. "NASCAR fans are die-hard and they will call out your BS," Abbott said. "I want to go to the highest level." [Source]
