Christmas songs are form of bullying, 'concerned' parents tell school

12/18/2012

A group of anonymous "concerned" parents in Montana wrote to the Missoula County Public Schools superintendent, essentially complaining that baby Jesus is bullying their kids. They're angry that the Christmas concert at Chief Charlo Elementary School mixed songs like "Joy to the World" in with "Frosty" and "Rudolph." "[Bullying] seems to be what is occurring here," they wrote. "We have no problem with it being called a Christmas concert [but] the material should be secular." Although the program included two Hanukkah songs and a majority of nondenominational tunes, the parents were still upset. "Every year … we hear it from both sides — it’s too secular or it’s too sacred," a district spokesman said. "There’s always something wrong with it." [Source]
