Church tells man-hungry women to lower standards
5/9/2012Australia is apparently in the grip of a dire man drought, and the Catholic Church in Australia suggests women lower their expectations accordingly if they want to get hitched. Father Tony Kerin of Melbourne tells GlobalPost, "Are women getting too choosy? I'd say yes." His insight comes in the wake of recent demographic research that found there are only 86,000 men Down Under who qualify as "marriage material." So what of the rest of the 1.343 million men between the ages of 25 to 34 living there? According to the research, they're either already married, gay or in a serious relationship. Single fathers and those earning less than $60,000 a year were excluded from the study. No doubt these candidates are hoping any would-be brides follow the Church's lead and not the researchers.
