CIA director says agents are nicer than they look in movie

12/23/2012

Everybody's a critic, especially when a movie shows them allegedly torturing a guy. Acting CIA Director Michael Morell challenged the accuracy of the new drama "Zero Dark Thirty," saying it shows many historical inaccuracies in its depiction of Osama bin Laden's assassination. The scene at the center of the controversy comes at the beginning of the film, when CIA operatives use waterboarding and other "enhanced interrogation techniques" to get information about bin Laden's whereabouts. According to Morell, "Some came from detainees subjected to enhanced techniques, but there were many other sources as well." It's too bad any scenes of calm chats over a nice lunch didn't make it into the movie. [Source]
