City of Fort Worth threatens not to hire smokers
4/19/2012It is possible that in the very near future smokers looking for work in Fort Worth, Texas, need not apply. The city is seriously thinking of telling any smoker wanting a city job to get lost - no ifs, ands or butts. The city has hailed the proposal as a cost-saving move to save millions in medical expenses and lost productivity for sick days. The proposal is unprecedented, as no municipality in Texas, or anywhere else for that matter, has considered such draconian anti-smoking legislation. A final decision could come down as soon as May 8.
