Los Angeles bans 'skateboard bombing' in city

8/8/2012

Cue the angry kids, pissed-off graffiti and resurgence of "Skating is Not a Crime" T-shirts. The city of Los Angeles has banned "skateboard bombing," a practice in which riders get together to skate down hills at high speeds. Although the bombing sessions will still technically be allowed, the ordinance prohibits most of the elements that define the word. These include riding crouched down (skaters will now have to be upright), hitching onto moving cars and skating at fast speeds that could cause harm to themselves or others. The law comes in response to two separate deaths this year from the sport. [Source]
