City demands teens pay for $120 permit to toss Frisbee in park

10/12/2012

Tossing a Frisbee at a park is hardly what one would call organized or a sport. But for some party-pooping city officials in the Australian city of Glen Eira, throwing around a Frisbee is akin to playing soccer or basketball. Yoav Silverstein, 17, and some of his friends had been gathering on Fridays at Caulfield Park to toss a Frisbee around. But they were taken aback last week when a city officer told them they would have to buy a $120 permit to continue their Frisbee dates because it was an organized sport. A council member said the council would look into the matter. [Source]
