Pilot who went crazy midflight is cleared to go home, but not take off

11/9/2012

The JetBlue pilot who was arrested for disrupting a flight back in March when he went berserk —yelling about religion and terrorists, and telling passengers “Say your prayers!” — has been allowed to return home rather than be admitted to a mental health facility. During an unpublicized trial in July, Clayton Osbon was found not guilty by reason of insanity brought on by sleep deprivation. Obson's psychotic episode reportedly lasted about a week, and records of other examinations he underwent while in custody have been sealed. Admittedly, while this psychosis seemed outrageous at the time, no one on the plane was hurt, and we're just glad Osbon has to hand over his pilot's license. [Source]
