Clint Eastwood amuses RNC with chat to invisible Obama

8/31/2012

Given Clint Eastwood's movie roles, you might've thought his speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday would be a grim, stiff-lipped affair. Nope: The "mystery guest" amused the Tampa crowd with an unexpectedly goofy, off-the-cuff address. The Hollywood actor held a pretend conversation with an invisible President Obama ("What do you want me to tell Mr Romney? I can't tell him to do that himself"), zinged Joe Biden ("the intellect of the Democratic Party ... a grin with a body behind it"), and capped off by resurrecting his most famous movie line after prompts from the audience. "Go ahead," he started. The crowd finished: "Make my day."
