Clumsy guy destroys $77,600 bottle of cognac

7/24/2012

It's all fun and games at London’s Playboy Club until an incredibly expensive bottle of booze is lost forever. A businessman asked to look at a 1788 bottle of Clos de Griffier Vieux cognac that was worth $77,600. Since he’d just ordered two glasses of brandy at $7,800 a nip, we’re guessing the club wasn’t going to disappoint such a worthwhile patron. Unfortunately, the playboy stood up and accidentally sent the treasured cognac hurtling through the air. The bottle shattered and now the world’s most expensive cocktail, which bartender Salvatore Calabrese was going to mix for a Guiness World Record attempt, has lost a key ingredient. Said Calabrese of the expensive mishap, “We all just froze.” [Source]
