Club promotes 'Food Stamp Friday' event
4/1/2012Fliers for "Food Stamp Friday" at a local nightclub in Montgomery, Ala., are causing a buzz around town. According to postcards for the event, you can show your Electronic Benefits Transfer card at the door for a discounted $5 cover charge and free shots inside. EBT are federally subsidized funds for those who are financially struggling to buy food for their families, and covers basic necessities (which don't include pet food or alcohol). While Montgomery residents are left to wonder if it's mocking others' misfortune or a misplaced attempt to glamorize federal assistance, we can't imagine a better way to screen opportunistic gold diggers out of your club scene.
