Coal mining museum goes solar — and will save $650K on bills
12/22/2012In ironies that are also good for the planet: A museum dedicated to coal mining has installed 200 solar panels on its roof — and as a result, it'll save $650,000 on its energy bills over the next 25 years. The Big Pit National Coal Mining Museum in Wales, which studies the effects of the industry, spent around $115,000 on the panels, so it'll come out about a half-million ahead. "Coal is such an important part of Wales’ heritage, and yet green energy will play a major part in its future," said the museum's manager. [Source]
