Sports writer defends Colin Kaepernick tattoo smear after backlash
12/1/2012Sports writer David Whitley simply does not think tattoos are becoming. That's all. Whitley has been inundated with criticism and accusations of racism after penning a debatably relevant article ripping San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his extensive arm tattoos. Though the trend for pro sports players to ink themselves from head to toe has long since stopped being controversial or even unusual, Whitley contends that quarterbacks must be held to a higher standard. In his defense, Whitley notes that he has two adopted African-American daughters and points out that he also called out Jeremy Shockey and "middle-aged women at the gym with barbed-wire tats" in his diatribe. Incidentally Kaepernick's tattoos are Bible verses. [Source]
