This college will let you major in comedy

3/6/2013

Looking for something studious to do this fall? Columbia College Chicago has partnered with Chicago's famous Second City comedy troupe to launch a new Comedy Performance and Writing degree program. "[The] degree will be the first one of its kind in the nation," said performing arts dean John Green, and we don’t doubt it. The program requires courses in performance, comedic writing, improvisation, clowning and stand-up. (Yes, we said clowning.) After braving the discomfort of a semester filled with long silences in Stand Up 101, students will be blessed with plenty of connections that would make any aspiring comedian drool. The two groups' alumni include Tina Fey, Steven Colbert, Steve Carrell, Andy Richter, and Scott Adsit to name a few. Who wants to sign up? [Source]
