Confederate flag banned — in any form — from Texas high school
12/18/2012Hays High in Buda, Texas — home of the "Mighty Rebels" — removed the Confederate flag from the hands of its rebel mascot 12 years ago. Now the school has decided to outlaw the flag in any iteration, whether on students' cars, clothing or elsewhere. "I do have a great respect for history, but the reality is that it's a racially insensitive symbol," said the school's superintendent. Some members of the school's community felt the measure went too far, but they're still able to play the school's "unofficial fight song" of "Dixie" ... for now. [Source]
