Confederate flag dress gets girl booted from prom
4/25/2012Texanna Edwards knows how to make an entrance. The senior at Gibson County High School in Dyer, Tenn., arrived at her prom with a dress that turned heads -- featuring a pattern of the Confederate flag. School officials turned Edwards away, telling her she could return if she changed her dress. Edwards refused, at a loss for why her dress was "offensive and inappropriate." Her defense? Black people loved it! "We kept asking people walking inside -- black and white -- and everyone said they loved it," Edwards claims. "Two black women even went off on the principal. They were upset with the principal. No one was upset with me."
