Controversial new Tumblr shames teens for racist posts
11/18/2012A controversial new Tumblr called “Hello There, Racists!” has touched a raw nerve on the Web this week. The site tracks racist comments on Twitter and Facebook, then posts the author's full name, hometown, and even their school or workplace to shame them for their bigoted comments. Despite a laudable anti-racist goal, the site has been criticized as irresponsible, since many of its targets are minors, who are then left open to cyber-bullying and vigilante trolling. Some fear the site will unfairly sully kids’ reputations for years to come, and be a permanent punishment for something all teens do (i.e. say stupid things). [Source]
