Cop fired for using patrol car to move mattresses
3/7/2012Miami-Dade officer Sandra Lyles must have been planning for a restful retirement. Maybe that's why she was transporting two mattresses on top of her patrol car. Despite 32 years on the force and the fact that Lyles was just a few days short of the golden handshake, the brass came down hard with a "you snooze, you lose" decision. Lyles was fired. Maybe it wasn't just the mattress incident, though; PoliceOne reports that Lyle had been disciplined 19 times during her career, including a violation for parking her cop car (sans mattress) in a handicapped space.
