Cops say band stole credit cards to buy their own music
3/30/2012One of the basic rules when you're up to something naughty is try not to get caught -- or at least don't make it easy to find you, but one U.K. gang apparently didn't share that attitude. BBC News says the group used stolen credit cards to buy their OWN music from iTunes and Amazon, netting a tidy $800,000 in royalties. But did they set their sights too high? The scheme was uncovered -- and the schemers brought to justice -- when iTunes realized it was paying out royalties "at a rate they expect to pay to someone like Madonna" to a completely unknown artist. Not unknown anymore, though.
