Newark mayor to live on $4.32 a day in food stamp challenge
12/4/2012Newark mayor/Twitter superman Cory Booker begins his food stamp challenge today — a week in which he'll subsist on food totaling just under $30. Booker kicked things off by tweeting a picture of a Pathmark receipt from his first shopping trip for the challenge. Besides responding personally on Twitter to general questions and concerns about life in Newark (recent topics: two local "viscous" pit bulls and inquiries about a new crab shack), the mayor also graciously accepted advice from those now living on government assistance, as well as some life coaching. "I think you should take the year off," one woman wrote. Booker responded, "God bless you." [Source]
