Fired-up NJ mayor to live off food stamps after Twitter challenge
11/20/2012Newark Mayor Cory Booker isn't one to turn down a challenge. Already this year, the mayor has gone to the aid of a neighbor stranded in a burning building and helped a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Now Booker has vowed to live off food stamps for at least a week, following a debate on Twitter with a tweep who challenged a tweet he wrote quoting the Greek historian Plutarch about the imbalance between rich and poor. Twitter user @MWadeNC initially argued that every family in America should be able to afford breakfast because of the aid provided by each state. That prompted the offer from Booker for them both to try living on food stamps, which was accepted. [Source]
