Costumed canines adorably fail in world-record attempt
5/6/2012Filed under "Guinness categories we didn't know existed," hundreds of canines converged on Kansas City yesterday to try to break a world record for the most dogs in costume. Approximately 500 pups (most of them Chihuahuas) showed up for the Cinco de Mayo celebration decked out as ballerinas, cowboys and, of course, tacos. One of Guinness' stranger criteria: A veterinarian had to ensure all entries were alive. No dead dogs turned up, though one was a potbellied pig. Sadly, they were about 200 dogs shy of the world record, but the president of the group that organized the event said, "We are going to keep doing this until we run out of dogs in Kansas City and have to start shipping them in."
