Couple who rescued an injured baby deer now face jail time

1/29/2013

Prepare to feel the rage of injustice. An Indiana couple who rescued an injured fawn face possible jail time for harboring the animal. When the deer limped onto a neighbor’s porch two years ago, Jeff and Jennifer Counceller brought her home, treated her and named her Little Orphan Dani. But when an Indiana Conservation officer discovered this, he wanted to euthanize her and charged the Councellers with unlawful possession of a deer. Conviction could mean up to 60 days in jail and $2,000 in fines. Dani mysteriously "escaped" before being put down, and the Internet has gone Bambi ballistic about the couple. A Facebook support page for the couple has more than 6,400 likes. [Source]
