Couple's tiny house makes big statement about simplicity
5/4/2012Drivers between Boulder and Park City, Colo., were surprised to see a car towing a teeny-tiny house that fit on the back of a pickup truck, in one lane of traffic. This cozy home is 127 square feet and was hand-built by Christopher Smith and Merete Mueller, who decided to buy land and materials outright for a few thousand dollars rather than take on a mortgage. They are part of the small house movement and are making a video about their complicated path to the simple life; for instance, building the house took eight months longer than expected. It may be 1/20th the size of the average American house, but they're taking on 0 percent of the average American debt. And hey, they can always put up a tent if they start getting cabin fever.
Would you want to live in a tiny home?
