Cow escapes slaughterhouse and barrels through Jersey city
4/11/2012A cow destined for death at a New Jersey slaughterhouse will continue to live the good life instead. The 750-pound creature escaped the slaughterhouse and ran through the streets of Paterson, even taking a detour into the Passaic River to avoid police and animal control officers. The black-and-white fugitive was eventually tranquilized, with no injuries to authorities or to the cow. The bovine appears to have caught a break after milking its 15 minutes in the police spotlight: The owner of the slaughterhouse has promised to take the cow to a farm.
