School bans transgender first-grader from girls' bathroom

She may identify, dress and be recognized on her passport as a girl, but first-grader Coy Mathis will have to pee with the boys, says her Colorado school district. School officials have banned the transgendered 6-year-old, born with male genitalia, from using the girls' bathroom, as she has done all school year. Instead, she'll have to use boys' restrooms, gender-neutral faculty bathrooms or nurse's facilities. The district says it based its decision on how it would affect other students "and the future impact a boy with male genitals using a girls' bathroom would have as Coy grew older."
