Cruise ship ignores fishermen lost at sea, 2 of them later die
4/20/2012The Star Princess is the definition of a luxury cruise liner -- it has four pools, a nine-hole putting green and a casino. It also has something more insidious onboard -- a seemingly heartless crew who ignored three Panamanian fishermen adrift at sea after their boat lost power. On March 10, three passengers who were bird-watching on deck reported to the crew that they had seen a man on a boat waving a dark cloth. The crew did nothing. Only one of the fishermen survived the 28-day ordeal, and after seeing a picture the bird-watchers took of the fishing boat, he confirmed he was the man who tried to flag down the ship and that his two companions died shortly after their distress signal was ignored.
Should the ship's crew be punished?
