Cruise ship smacks into bridge thanks to crappy calculations
5/26/2012Someone is doing some bad math in China -- and because of that, the brand-new cruise ship Pearl No. 7 smacked into a bridge over the Ouijiang River. The ship was sitting higher in the water than usual because of high tides and because it was empty of the added weight of passengers and cargo. Luckily, the $40 million ship was undamaged except for its chimney, which collided with the bridge, and presumably the ego of its navigator. Inspectors are investigating any possible damage to the bridge, but early reports say that it only "swayed slightly" following the impact.
Would you ever want to take a cruise with this company?
