Curiosity finds 'flower' on Mars, but boring NASA says it's a rock

Speculation over a Martian flower is blossoming online. A cluster of pearl-colored, petal-shaped formations in an image from the Curiosity rover launched online buzz. However, NASA is playing it cool — one NASA spokesperson dismissed the flower by saying "[it] appears to be part of the rock. I would guess that the flower was someone's descriptive term for its appearance, not meant as an interpretation that flowers exist on Mars." Still, come on, flowers on Mars are just so much more romantic than rocks. What would they smell like? Chanel needs to send Brad Pitt in a private rocket up there and get working on a Martian perfume stat. [Source]
