New law makes cybersex a crime in the Philippines
9/19/2012The Philippines has just made the Internet a much less sexy place thanks to a new law that makes cybersex illegal. The law, dubbed the Cybercrime Prevention Act, identifies cybersex as the "lascivious exhibition of sexual organs or sexual activity, with the aid of a computer system" and labels it as a crime. Violaters of the law face a fine of up to one million Philippines pesos ($24,000) and an unspecified prison term. Philippines senator T.G. Guingona slammed the law on Facebook, calling it a "contravention of the constitutional principle of freedom of speech and freedom of expression." He also said the law "legislates morality." [Source]
