Dad crushes Alabama's $30K football trophy
4/17/2012The University of Alabama crushed LSU 21-0 back in early January to win the BCS national championship. Now the $30,000 Waterford Crystal football trophy that the team received for its victory has suffered the same fate. A player's dad tripped on the rug under the table that held the handcrafted-in-Ireland trophy on Saturday at the team's annual intrasquad game and shattered the thing. Thanks, Dad. ESPN's Alex Scarborough tweeted out a pic that sadly noted, "Here's what's left." They might want to toughen these trophies up. Florida's 2007 trophy also got busted when then-recruit Orson Charles fumbled it. Oops.
