Move over religion: It's time for something new, says Dalai Lama9/13/2012
You can toss away those crucifixes, Qurans, and saffron robes. According to the Dalai Lama, religion is basically redundant. In a post on his Facebook page, the bubbly boss of Buddhism told his friends: "All the world's major religions, with their emphasis on love, compassion, patience, tolerance, and forgiveness can and do promote inner values. But the reality of the world today is that grounding ethics in religion is no longer adequate. This is why I am increasingly convinced that the time has come to find a way of thinking about spirituality and ethics beyond religion altogether." He didn't come forth with any suggestions on where to from here, but maybe he means we'll have to start thinking for ourselves. Eep! Way to do yourself out of a gig, Lama! [Source]
