Dale Earnhardt Jr. finishes first, snaps epic winless streak
6/17/2012The NASCAR Nation breathed a happy sigh of relief Sunday as Dale Earnhardt Jr., the sport's most popular driver, ended a 143-race winless drought at Michigan International Speedway, winning the Quicken Loans 400. "Good job, man," Earnhardt radioed to his crew after he roared across the finish line in his black Chevrolet, comfortably ahead of Tony Stewart, to gain his nineteenth career victory, and the first one since winning this race almost exactly four years ago. "I know you guys have been waiting on that one. I know I have." The four-year-losing streak has worn on Earnhardt, who last week said he was getting close enough to envision the checkered flag. "I daydream about it all the time," he said.
How should Dale Jr. celebrate his victory?
