Dalmatian adopts orphaned spotted baby lamb

8/12/2012

It's no surprise this little abandoned baby lamb had a serious case of "Are you my mother?" when she met a spotted Dalmatian dog on a South Australian farm this year. Both have spotted black and white markings and could practically be a real mother-daughter pair. Fortunately for the little ewe, who got her markings from a pure-bred white Dorper ram mated with a cross-bred Dorper-Van Rooy ewe, the Dalmatian was happy to adopt her. The two are now inseparable and the vet says he isn’t sure whether to call the pairing a "sheep-matian" or a "Dal-dorper." We're just gonna call it cute.
