World mourns as boy who got 700,000 Christmas cards dies

1/13/2013

People are mourning all over the world today (and sharing their thoughts about it on Twitter) as news hits that the Kentucky boy who set a world record for most Christmas cards received has died. Last month, as 9-year-old Dalton Dingus' battle with cystic fibrosis came to a head, the Magoffin County boy grabbed international attention with his campaign to set a Guinness World Record. As his face circulated the Internet, well wishes came pouring in by the thousands, including a whopping 700,000 cards (approximately 40,000 to 50,000 on Christmas Eve alone) and blowing the former record of 35,000 out of the water. As close family reported his passing on Facebook, new cards for Dalton have begun flowing again. [Source]
