If US gymnast didn't have his lucky towel, all would be lost
8/2/2012Some athletes at the London Olympics attribute their success to a strict diet, painstaking preparation and keeping their nerves in check when they compete. U.S. bronze medalist Danell Leyva has a different strategy: his lucky blue-and-gray towel. The gymnast, who’s kept the towel by his side since 2007, often drapes the lucky charm over his shoulders or throws it over his head to keep out distractions. In fact, the towel has become a celebrity in its own right, with more than 10,000 followers on its Twitter page. Leyva acknowledges that his towel’s social media fame is "crazy" — but also "kinda cool." [Source]
