Badass golfer bitten by venomous spider finishes her round
2/13/2013Daniela Holmqvist is of hardy Scandinavian stock, the kind of tough, no-nonsense lady you could imagine riding a covered wagon across the frozen Upper Midwest to settle in Sheboygan or Bismarck. The Swedish golfer was playing a pre-qualifying round in Australia on Tuesday when she was bitten by what she first identified as a black widow spider — but was perhaps a venomous redback spider — on the fourth hole of the Royal Canberra Golf Club. Instead of freaking out, Holmqvist got a tee out of her pocket, cut open the wound and squeezed the venom out. Then she finished the last 14 holes of her round, managing to shoot a 74. Badass.
