Second Amendment was created to protect slavery, Danny Glover says
1/20/2013With his crack-shot cop "Lethal Weapon" days behind him, Danny Glover's current role is apparently pissing off gun fans. The 66-year-old actor, speaking at Texas A&M University for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, told the crowd the Second Amendment was meant to protect slave owners from uprisings. "I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans," Glover said during the appearance. The controversial comments sparked a petition against the school's "leftist bias," as well as ire and ridicule from a conservative student group. He just needs a good Roger Murtaugh comeback now.
