UPDATE: Singer with Delta-smashed guitar gets sweet gift from Gibson
1/10/2013Remember Dave Schneider, the musician whose prized Gibson guitar was smashed between the doors of a Delta airlines elevator? His story started out sadder than the average country song, but Schneider, the lead singer of hockey-themed rock band The Zambonis, has to be feeling a little better now. Delta says it'll pay to fix the vintage 1965 ES-335 and will give Schneider a pair of free flight vouchers. But — and this is way cool — Gibson offered to do the repairs itself and is sending Schneider a new 50th anniversary edition of his beloved gee-tar. "With Gibson reaching out to me, that's the cherry on top of the best musical nightmare ever," Schneider said. [Source]
