Tragic hike ends in death of father and two sons in Mo.
1/15/2013A family trip to the Ozarks ended in tragedy for an Air Force veteran and his two sons this weekend. David Decareaux and two of his sons, age 8 and 10, set off on Saturday in light jackets and sweaters on the Ozark Trail, 110 miles southwest of St. Louis. When the trio left for the hike with the family golden retriever, temperatures were comfortably in the 60s, but they would drop overnight into the 20s. Just three hours into their hike, a passing driver offered the group a ride to the lodge where they were staying with Decareaux's wife and three other children -- which they declined. The three were found on Sunday. Only the dog survived. [Source]
